Refund policy

Vista Lighting Return Policy

Effective Date: January 24, 2026

Vista Lighting (“we,” “us,” “our”) is committed to delivering high-quality products. This Return Policy governs requests for returns, exchanges, refunds, restocking charges, and related procedures. All returns and exchanges are subject to these terms.

To initiate a return or exchange, you must contact us first at:
support@vistalighting.co

1. Return Window & Eligibility

1.1 Standard Return Period

You may request a return within 30 calendar days from the date you receive your item.

1.2 Condition Requirements

To be eligible for return:

  • Item must be unused, uninstalled, unaltered, and in original condition;

  • All tags, accessories, manuals, and packaging must be included;

  • A valid receipt, order number, or proof of purchase must be provided.

1.3 Trade Orders

Trade or account customers (e.g., designers, contractors, commercial buyers) have separate return rights that may be defined in their account agreement. Where not defined, this policy applies.

1.4 International Returns (Case-by-Case)

For orders shipped outside the United States, returns and refunds are handled on a case-by-case basis at our discretion due to variable carrier, customs, duties, and tax implications.

2. Non-Returnable Items & Exceptions

Certain items are non-returnable:

  • Final Sale products, including custom-made, personalized, or special-order items;

  • Items explicitly marked “Final Sale” at purchase;

  • Installed, altered, or damaged items due to customer actions;

  • Hazardous or perishable goods where applicable.

We may refuse returns that do not meet condition requirements. Non-returnable items will be returned to you at your cost or otherwise disposed of if not reclaimed within 30 days.

3. Return Authorization (RMA)

3.1 Prior Authorization Required

No returns will be accepted without an RMA number issued by Vista Lighting. To obtain an RMA:

  1. Email support@vistalighting.co with your order number, product(s) requested for return, and reason;

  2. Wait for return evaluation and RMA issuance.

Unauthorized returns may be refused or assessed a higher restocking fee.

3.2 Shipping Instructions

Once an RMA is issued:

  • Securely package the item in original packaging;

  • Clearly mark the RMA number on the outside of the package;

  • Ship prepaid unless otherwise instructed.

If return is due to our error (defect, incorrect item), we may provide a prepaid return label at our discretion.

4. Fees, Restocking, and Refunds

4.1 Restocking Fee

Unless the return is due to our error, returns are subject to a restocking fee of up to 20% of the item price. This aligns with standard industry practice (e.g., 20–25% restocking charges from suppliers).

4.2 Refund Method

Approved refunds will be issued to the original form of payment or account credit. Processing may take up to 10 business days after item receipt and inspection.

4.3 Inspection Outcomes

Items not meeting return condition criteria may be:

  • Returned to you at your expense;

  • Subject to a higher restocking fee;

  • Ineligible for any refund.

5. Exchanges

Exchanges are processed by returning the unwanted product under this policy, then placing a new order for the desired item.

We do not automatically swap items without processing returns and new orders.

6. Damages, Defects, and Shipping Errors

6.1 Inspection Upon Delivery

You should inspect your order upon delivery. If items are damaged, defective, or incorrect:

6.2 Defective Items

For defective items, we may, at our discretion:

  • Provide a replacement;

  • Issue a refund;

  • Cover return shipping.

Defects due to misuse, improper installation, or unauthorized modification are not covered.

7. Restocking Fee Clarification

For context, many lighting suppliers enforce restocking fees and strict return rules. For example, Robert Abbey assesses a 20% restocking fee and return freight charged to the customer for authorized returns, and up to a 30% fee without prior authorization.

Our policy mirrors this commercial standard while giving Vista Lighting control over returns.

8. Legal Disclaimers & Consumer Rights

8.1 Governing Law

This policy is governed by applicable U.S. federal and state consumer protection laws. Nothing in this policy waives statutory rights where prohibited.

8.2 Modification

We may modify this policy at any time. The version governing your purchase is the one posted at the time of order.

8.3 No Liability for Non-Compliance

Vista Lighting disclaims liability for issues arising from non-compliance with these procedures, except as required by law.
